Darko C. Nikolić "Milestone 25" Vernissage

In "Milestone 25", Darko C. Nikolić presents a selection of his latest works, which reflect his artistic development over the last two years. On the one hand, this is characterized by the further development of his established picture series, which have been an integral part of his work for many years - and on the other hand, new approaches can be discovered from the ground up, which present themselves in the form of large-format colour studies and pictorial systems. And on a meta-level, Darko's work also reveals a cyclical principle of further development: Through the conceptual hanging of the works, they not only enter into a dialog with the audience, but also with each other. This creates interactions that constantly unfold anew and seem to have no beginning and no end. Through this dynamic, "Milestone 25" offers a moment of escape from our usual perception and media landscape and allows us to organize our perspectives with a new clarity.

Darko C. Nikolić lives and works in Hamburg and is represented by Affenfaust Galerie. His work has received increasing international acclaim, including exhibitions at the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing (China) and the Jiangxi Provincial Art Museum in Nanchang (China). He understands the act of seeing as a physical and psychological experience and not least as an action bound to the body. Darko's color spaces therefore often manifest themselves as walk-in installations or expansive wooden objects. His large-format paintings, which he creates both on wood and on house facades, have an equally sculptural effect: with precise patterns of geometric color figures, he works out optical phenomena that create an idea of movement and spatiality
