Event to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation from fascism

80 years ago, the Allies liberated Europe and Germany from the Nazi-fascists - the main burden was borne by the USSR, which also had to bear most of the victims of the world war unleashed by Germany. Today, 80 years later, the Soviet Union no longer exists, while Germany is rearming on an unprecedented scale - partly in order to be able to wage war against Russia again. Liberation from fascism was not a one-off, historical act, but must be fought for again and again - because "the womb from which this crawled is still fertile". (B. Brecht)

Young and old participants will discuss whether the liberation from German fascism was ultimately successful - and what challenges young anti-fascists in the FRG face today.

The Hannes Zerbe Jazz Orchestra will play a new composition by Hannes Zerbe (orchestra leader) with motifs by Dimitri Shostakovich, including from his Leningrad Symphony.
