THE END OF THE WEST

Sascha wants to earn a lot of money quickly and therefore works in a troll factory. There, the young woman produces false reports under numerous cover names - until contact with a colleague puts her in unexpected danger.

An unnamed Soviet secret agent receives his first major assignment in Dresden in the 1980s: he is to install a bug to listen in on the political opposition. Nothing foreshadows that he will achieve international fame as a politician and dubious success as the producer of the series "The End of the West".

US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is on her flight to Moscow. She will be the first Western politician to meet the new President of Russia and will later describe this meeting in her autobiography.

In the meantime, artificial intelligence has developed at breakneck speed: The hope of eternal life is associated with it just as much as the fear of the extinction of humanity. More and more, it seems to be developing a personality of its own.

Lars Werner repeatedly deals with current political and social issues in his theater texts. He has now been commissioned to write "The End of the West" for the Oldenburg State Theater. In the world premiere of his new play, analog play meets the means of digitality.
