Imagine: a line divides your kitchen, your bed - you even need a passport to brush your teeth. The cress dries up because you're not allowed to smuggle natural resources across the border and the paperwork is too complicated.
It's not just about bureaucracy, but about the questions that affect us all: Why do we need borders? What happens to humanity when borders are drawn? How do we deal with the absurdity of a piece of paper deciding our lives?
Mrożek invites us to laugh at this madness and reflect on the connections we have with other people and how fragile these can be.
