"Das Land meines Vaters" - Film und Gespräch

In the organizer's words:

Pierre is 25 years old when he returns from Wyoming to take over his father's farm in his native France with his fiancée Claire. The young farmer is bursting with new ideas and zest for action, whereas his father Jacques finds it hard to let go. Twenty years later, the farm has grown and with it the family. But the happy days of shared devotion to the farm and the land are soon a thing of the past. Despite sacrificial hard work to the point of exhaustion and the active support of Claire and the two children, the debts grow - and with them Pierre's despair. This moving and highly topical feature film debut with an outstanding Guillaume Canet in the leading role takes a deeply human look at the dramatic working conditions of farmers and the price of our food.

EIGENTUM IM BLICK is a film series by the Collaborative Research Center SFB 294 STRUCTURAL CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP, which brings this complexity to the screen. The film selection, commented on by SFB scientists, focuses on conflicts over property, current dynamics of change and possible alternatives to property-based orders.
