Diogenes of Sinope was an ancient Greek philosopher. He believed that only those who freed themselves from superfluous needs and lived independently of external constraints could be happy. As a modern reincarnation of the philosopher, Peter Trabner takes a critical look at our consumer society. It becomes clear that the themes that preoccupied Diogenes 2000 years ago are still relevant today. Everyday language with pointed humor alternates with traditional quotations and comparisons from Diogenes' life. Diogenes' central concepts and statements meet current issues relating to the environment and climate change. Trabner thus creates direct references to the conflict between ecology and economy, to the consumer mania of our time, the "ever more/ever faster/ever further".
