Simply existing can be a real challenge. When you have to maintain friendships, keep the kids entertained and work on the side, your battery runs out faster than the coffee pot in the office on a Monday morning. Between meetings, to-do lists and trying to get enough sleep, there is hardly any time to take the chaos of everyday life with humor. Fortunately, there is Tobias Vogel, aka @kriegundfreitag, who has been doing just that with his minimalist stick figures since 2017: he holds up a mirror to us with apt, pointed cartoons and shows scenes from life in which we all recognize ourselves. The unusual name "War and Friday" came about due to a simple autocorrect error on his cell phone, which wrote "Friday" instead of "Peace". His cartoons, which reach quite a lot of people on Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook, also appear in books published by Lappan Verlag and Reclam, among others. Vogel received the Grimme Online Award for his work in 2019 and won the Max and Moritz Audience Award in 2020.
