It was supposed to be a cozy evening. But this game changes everything. Suddenly, every secret, no matter how perfect, threatens to be revealed to everyone.
Seven friends (including Saskia Valencia) play a dangerous game over dinner: every message that arrives on the seven cell phones during the course of the evening is read out loud and everyone gets to see pictures and films. It soon becomes clear: juggling with hand grenades would not be any more dangerous... Because everyone not only has a public and a private life, but also a secret that needs to be kept. A huge success as a play and with around twenty film adaptations worldwide.
What sounds so entertaining and amusing leads to some complications. Of course it's a comedy, of course the author exaggerates the complications, but he makes us all complicit and cleverly draws us into his plot. How often have we all heard the phrase that we have nothing to hide and therefore have no fear of surveillance? We reveal our lives in our smartphones, we use them as a digital second brain. What if someone had access to all your cell phone data?
How small the microcosm that this play reveals might seem to us. All the players are screened, they reveal themselves - but not entirely voluntarily. It's great fun, and yet it probably catches the entire audience thinking about their own little or perhaps big secrets.
