In the organizer's words:

Repertório N.3 is the final piece in the trilogy of self-defense choreographies by Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira. The piece premiered at the 35th São Paulo Biennial in December 2023, after both artists worked on its completion in a residency at tanzhaus in the summer of 2023. Now they are back at tanzhaus nrw and will present two parts of their Repertório trilogy in one weekend. All parts relate to each other, but there are both clear and subtle differences in the choreography and costumes. Each part of the trilogy adds further facets that, performance by performance, form an ever more comprehensive picture.
In 2018, Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira joined forces to create a trilogy of choreographies of self-defense in the face of violent structures. They focus on three types of violence: physical violence, imaginary violence and epistemological violence. Imaginary violence refers to the subtle and invisible mechanisms of power and oppression that are anchored in cultural and social ideas. Epistemological violence describes the violent suppression and control of knowledge and perspectives that do not conform to the prevailing power structures. In their work, Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira seek to understand how a body and everything it carries with it develops its own capacity for self-defense. How can violence be performed without legitimizing it? With visionary fantasies, they propose different strategies of resistance: a powerful and sustainable way to stay in the world.

Davi Pontes is an artist, choreographer and researcher who works at the intersection of visual arts and choreography. He studied art at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in Porto, Portugal. Since 2016, Pontes has been presenting his works internationally in art galleries and at performing arts festivals. In 2022, together with Wallace Ferreira, he won the Young Choreographers' Award [8:tension] at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna. His work explores the connections between choreography, racism and self-defense, encouraging audiences to critically engage with and reflect on the production of history.

Wallace Ferreira is an artist with a background in dance and visual arts. Ferreira studied at the Escola Livre de Artes da Maré (ELÃ) and at the Artes Visuais do Parque Lage in Brazil. In 2022, Ferreira won the Young Choreographers' Award [8:tension] at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna together with Davi Pontes. Ferreira's works have been shown internationally in art galleries and at performing arts festivals. Ferreira's creations question conventions and explore the intersections of movement, performance, voguing and visual representation
