'Dear Beautiful Beloved' is a film about the reality of the war against Ukraine that manages without images of fighting. It confronts us with people who have been left behind in the war zones, who do not know where to flee to or who cannot make it on their own. And with the dead. While a network of volunteers evacuates the elderly and sick, forensic teams recover the bodies of the fallen and return them to their families. The camera bears witness to these actions. What we see makes us think about the limits of what can be shown. To look or to look away, what are the options? A discussion about the reasonableness of camera angles becomes a comparison of our attitude with political reality - and the film becomes a sketch of a moral dilemma.
