Dee Dee Bridgewater Quartet – „We Exist“

Well, let's carry a few owls to Athens: Dee Dee Bridgewater is one of the greatest jazz singers of the last 50 years. But if you listen to her soul and funk recordings, you can rightly claim that she has also set milestones in these genres. Oh yes, she also cut a pretty good figure as a musical performer and actress. You don't win Tonys and Grammys on the side. Since the 60s, she has shared the stage with greats such as Sonny Rollins and Dexter Gordon. She was a member of Thad Jones' and Mel Lewis' big band. But no matter who she has worked with: Her voice has decisively changed the temperature and character of every piece of music, every room and every band. Her first solo album "Afro Blue" was released in 1974. She recorded her most recent album with Bill Charlap - standards that no one else has ever recorded, because her improvisational flair seems unfailing. The work is rightly called "Elemental". And it is elemental to experience this gifted singer live - finally there is an opportunity to do so again!
