Deep Purple = 1 More Time Tour

In response to popular demand, Deep Purple have announced that they will be playing at the Grugahalle Essen on October 25, 2024 as part of their "1 More Time" Tour 2024.

"Our guitarist Steve Morse had to retire from the band because he was looking after his very ill wife," bassist and co-producer Roger Glover told A Rádio Rockin April 2023 . "And so we have a new guitarist in the group called Simon McBride. It's a completely new experience. I mean: We're a different band because of it. In a way, we have to embrace change. You can't do the same thing over and over again." However, fans need not worry that something fundamental will change with Purple. The direction they are taking musically with Mr. McBride has already been demonstrated by the performances of the revamped quintet. "The Irish-born singer added a lot of power to the band and was able to put his own spin on many of the well-known classics," according to the online site Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. The obvious fact is that the man in his 40s has the effect of a fountain of youth on one of the most influential representatives of hard rock (average age: 77). With him, Deep Purple (over 100 million records sold worldwide!) are celebrating their 66th career year full of fresh energy. This applies to the power band's current and legendary songs. Of course, one of them should never be missing from the program: their classic "Smoke On The Water"!

The evening will be opened, as it was two years ago, by the rock formation Jefferson Starship, which emerged from Jefferson Airplane in 1974, led by its co-founder David Freiberg (vocals, guitar, keyboards). They can boast hits such as "Jane", "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", "We Built This City", "Sara", "Miracles", "Somebody To Love", "Volunteers" and songs from their latest CD "Mother Of The Sun" (2020).
