Dizzying spins on the vertical rope, ecstatic dance sequences and touching personal accounts, opulent costume changes, lighting design and music: Diana Salles creates an immersive, intense theatrical experience with this circus solo. The Brazilian aerial artist takes the audience on the intimate journey of her transition. In poetic images of death and rebirth, Salles tells of the profound feeling many trans people have of having to "murder" their assigned self in order to make room for their true self. "Delusional - I Killed a Man" shows the depths, the agony, but also the beauty of this process, while at the same time Salles succeeds in making very universal aspects of identity and change tangible. Her piece is a political statement for more understanding and empathy towards trans people - an artistic plea for courage, freedom and (self-)love. Salles studied at the renowned ESAC circus school in Brussels and has already won several awards for her work.
