denXte: Kant, Aufklärer und Rassist – sollen wir den noch lesen?

In the organizer's words:

You are a teacher in an upper school class. You are about to read Kant's "Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals". There is clear resistance. One pupil is outraged: Kant made racist remarks about inhabitants of non-European countries, including the country her family comes from. Another student added that Kant had claimed that women could not think. A heated debate breaks out when some students defend Kant by saying that everyone was racist back then. What do you say?

denXte is an interactive philosophical lecture series in which renowned philosophers present socially topical and scientifically relevant issues in the form of thought experiments. After a short thematic introduction by the philosophers, the audience is invited to explore their own intuition on the topic and - by voting with their smartphone and in a subsequent open discussion - to let it flow in.
