The Assistant
The assistant seems to be at the end of his rope. In the dubious clinic under palm trees, he comes to in a daze. Diagnosis: amnesia on the Amazon!
A course of cactus juice is supposed to help him search for clues in the swamp of memories. In the end, all that remains is the realization: "Nothing picks me up like melancholy."
The Assistant - A sound like on a mixtape that has been lying in the South American sun on the rear shelf of a dented Citroën Visa for too long. His sofrito of library muzak, dub rhythms, Japanese reggae and yacht rock, spiced with Latin and bossanova, is served up on delicate white-bread soul.
The lyrics are sometimes absurd, always full of longing and at least ambiguous. An Easter egg has been hidden here and there: Jörg Fauser, Raymond Chandler and Agatha Christie send their regards. In familiar Marlowe style, the narrator drifts through the (nightmare) dream worlds of his eight songs. Is it Tom Hessler himself who appears in the distorted mirror of the cocktail bar, or his alter ego?

Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge
The genre-resistant Berlin duo Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge return to the Slow Club with a new album in their luggage. Following their debut album in 2019, "Neue Kreise" on Bureau B is the duo's second album, which combines diverse musical influences into an irresistible blend of soft, synthetic pop. While on their debut Der Große Preis (2020) the initial N(euere)DW angst gradually turned into bubbling boogie and cosmic funk, the new 11-track album dives deep into the melancholic blue tones of the blues, the warm sunset sounds of yacht rock and groovy jazz fusion - while always retaining its characteristic lyrical bite.
A tropically beautiful evening in the most beautiful club in the world is guaranteed.
