Thomas Mann was born in Lübeck on June 6, 1875. Hartmut Stanke will read one of his most beautiful and yet most unknown novellas for you, the content of which the author himself summarized as follows: "The main character is a man who has been stepmothered by nature, who knows how to come to terms with his fate in a clever, gentle, peaceful and philosophical way and who has adapted his life entirely to tranquillity, contemplation and peace. The appearance of a strangely beautiful and yet cold and cruel woman means the intrusion of passion into this sheltered life, which overturns the whole structure and destroys the quiet hero himself."
