A cunning robber is up to mischief in the town. The creep calls himself Hotzenplotz and drives constable Dimpfelmoser almost to despair. When the crook steals Kasperl's grandmother's music-making coffee grinder, the boy and his friend Seppel pick up the scent. It almost looks as if the case will be solved in no time at all when the friends fall into the clutches of their adversary. While Seppel is supposed to be at the villain's service in his cave, Kasperl is sold to the magician Petrosilius Zwackelmann and held captive in his castle. The situation seems hopeless, but with a lot of courage and a bit of luck, Kasperl finds the fairy Amaryllis, who tells him how he can escape.
With the robber Hotzenplotz, the world-famous children's author Otfried Preußler has created one of the most popular criminals in literary history. The villain, for whom his reputation seems to be at least as important as his prey, enjoys cult status. The Junge Staatstheater presents the adventure story as a hilarious Punch and Judy tale for the whole family.
Schools and institutions can book the Young State Theatre's production of The Robber Hotzenplotz with audio description on request and where possible.
