The documentary tells the extraordinary story of Dean Reed, an American musician who became a socialist icon in the GDR. In the 1970s, he enjoyed great success as a singer and actor in the East, while remaining largely unknown in the West. The film sheds light on Reed's political convictions, his career and his tragic end.
A sensitive yet critical documentary about an exceptional contemporary figure caught between success and tragedy, political commitment and naivety.
