Der schwedische Adventsmarkt

In the organizer's words:

The Swedish Advent market in the Gustav Adolf Church in Munich-Ramersdorf.

The Swedish Christmas market in the parish hall and cloister of the Gustav Adolf church on the third Advent has become a tradition. Swedes - now numbering several thousand in Bavaria - have been making the pilgrimage there for decades to buy Christmas decorations, cards or wrapping paper, the odd souvenir, traditional food for the big celebration or simply to enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of Swedish-style prince cake and yeast pastries. Yes, it's not just Swedes who head for the market. Many, many Germans are enthusiastic Sweden fans who visit the Swedes' homeland as often as they can to enjoy the freedom of nature and the uncomplicated Swedish way of life. This is how Swedes often explain their love for our country. The joy of every single visitor is great. It has actually become almost familiar with many of them. "Oh, it's so nice to have you back!" is often heard.
The market is organized by a small group from the Swedish church in Bavaria. Preparations start in the spring and increase in the fall. Products are ordered for the stalls, staff are scheduled for the market....who does what?...who bakes what?...who cleans?...who decorates?...There are many tasks that have to be planned and carried out by volunteers to make the Christmas market a success. With the proceeds of the Christmas market, we not only support the Swedish community in Bavaria, but also, for example, the KARLA women's shelter in Karlstraße, Munich, the clinic clowns, Lebenshilfe and the diaconia of the Gustav Adolf congregation.
It will soon be that time again and we would like to thank the Gustav Adolf Gemeinde for making the rooms available to us again and for their patience as we turn everything upside down for three days. We would be delighted to welcome you here! Come and visit us and soak up some of the Swedish atmosphere in the run-up to Christmas! A warm welcome!
