In the mid-1950s, Hessian Attorney General Fritz Bauer receives a tip-off that Adolf Eichmann is in Argentina. He wants to put the former SS Obersturmbannführer and Holocaust organizer on trial in Germany, but his colleagues from the BKA and BND are not to be trusted. Their job is to protect the former Nazis in the Bonn government, and Eichmann's statements would incriminate them. Bauer then turns to the Israeli secret service.
Staged as a sober conspiracy thriller, the film focuses entirely on the time of the search for Eichmann and creates a credible memorial to the courageous, sacrificial lawyer Fritz Bauer.
Fritz Bauer, who later initiated the Frankfurt Auschwitz trial, occupies a special place in the exhibition. At Bauer's request, his part in the capture of Eichmann only became known after his death.
