Derya Yildirim & Grup Şimşek

In the organizer's words:

Ten years ago, Derya Yıldırım met the French musicians Graham Mushnik and Antonin Voyant from Catapulte Records while participating in a community theater project and founded the band Grup Şimşek with them, which was joined by Helen Wells, a drummer from Cape Town, in 2021. Born in Hamburg to Turkish parents, Derya grew up under the influence of her family's Anatolian heritage and Hamburg's many international influences. Derya's musical roots began at home, where she played folk music with family members. With Grup Şimşek, she combines these roots with psychedelic, contemporary elements that create a very unique atmosphere live and on record and not only downright hypnotize. On March 14, the new album "Yarın Yoksa" was released on the renowned Brooklyn-based label Big Crown Records.
