Bavarian Radio Choir
Conductor: Peter Dijkstra
Bavarian State Youth Choir
Conductor: Franziska Kuba
Moderation: Susanne Vongries
Works by Aaron Copland, Benjamin Britten, Knut Nystedt and others
With the Bavarian Radio Choir and the Bavarian State Youth Cho ir, two generations, professionals and future professionals, are on stage in this concert. Under the direction of Peter Dijkstra and Franziska Kuba, they will present a varied program: in the first part, the Landesjugendchor will perform Aaron Copland's "In the Beginning" as well as works by Bob Chilcott and Benjamin Britten. The BR Choir will perform Frank Martin's "Songs of Ariel" and Francis Poulenc's cantata "Figure humaine", which was composed in 1943 during the German occupation. Music by the Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt, a student of Aaron Copland, then not only builds the tonal bridge to the beginning of the concert, but also between the two choirs, who conclude the evening singing together.
The discussion with the two choir conductors Peter Dijkstra and Franziska Kuba after the first part of the program also connects the two choirs in this sense.
This concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Broadcast date at: www.deutschlandfunkkultur.de.
