World premieres of new arrangements from the "German-Jewish Songbook of 1912"

Musical remembrance culture comes alive at the Chorfest! New arrangements of songs from the "Deutsch-Jüdisches Liederbuch von 1912" by six Israeli and German composers will be honored and premiered as part of this award-winning concert. The musical and stylistic range of the award-winning works is broad: the concert will feature pieces for mixed choir and women's choir in homophonic and polyphonic movements with improvisation, chant and even choreographic elements.

The presentation of the compositions brings the works of the international arrangement competition for the "German-Jewish Songbook", which was organized by the German Choral Association, Schott Music and the "Project 2025 - Arche Musica" in autumn 2024, to the public for the first time.

The prizes will be awarded by Christian Wulff (former German President and President of the German Choral Association) and Dr. Ludwig Spaenle (Bavarian State Government Commissioner for Jewish Life and against Anti-Semitism, for Remembrance Work and Historical Heritage).

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Pro Music Viva - Maria Strecker-Daelen Foundation and the Volkswagen Group. Berliner Sparkasse is supporting the Moran Singers Ensemble's participation in the Chorfest.
