Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897 - 1957): Passover Psalm op. 30

Three ensembles - two special composers: for their encounter, the Moran Singers Ensemble, the Monteverdichor Würzburg and the Vogtland Philharmonie have chosen works by Ernest Bloch and Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose choral symphonic works deal with their Jewish identity, among other things. Ernest Bloch, for example, set texts from the Torah and the Psalms to music for the piece "Avodath Hakodesh", which is described as a synagogue oratorio. Erich Wolfgang Korngold wrote "Passover Psalm" in exile in California in 1941. His experience as a film composer allows the story of the origin of the Passover festival and the passing of the angel of death to emerge impressively before the audience's eyes.

Embedded in the concert is an expert discussion on the topic with Ludwig Spaenle (State Government Commissioner for Jewish Life and Against Anti-Semitism, former Minister of State for Science and Art) and Prof. Jascha Nemtsov (Weimar University of Music).
