DEZAIN CRUSH - Deutsch-japanische Design-Ausstellung

After the successful prologue in 2024 with almost 2,000 visitors at the Visit Düsseldorf tourist information office and in "Toykio" in Little Tokyo, the German-Japanese design exhibition DEZAIN CRUSH will reach a new level in 2025 with the jump to the NRW-Forum: DEZAIN CRUSH will start just in time for Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW on May 24, 2025 and will show works by eleven renowned graphic designers and illustrators from Germany and Japan on the entire upper floor of the NRW-Forum until June 10, 2025. The opening evening will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 7 pm.

Led by the three initiators Lilly Friedeberg, Kiyo Matsumoto and Alexandros Michalakopoulos, DEZAIN CRUSH aims to make Düsseldorf's design scene more visible. The focus is on strengthening the cultural connection between Germany and Japan - through design as a unifying element and creative dialog.

This special synergy will be celebrated in an exhibition and a festival that brings together Japanese and German design. The city of Düsseldorf, known for its lively, diverse cultural scene and as home to the third-largest Japanese community in Europe with around 15,000 inhabitants, offers the ideal location for this.

Once again this year, numerous renowned designers and artists from Germany and Japan will be represented at DEZAIN CRUSH in the NRW-Forum. In addition to Takumi Ogata (尾方 匠), Yu Miyama (美山 有) and Yui Takada (高田 唯), who were already part of last year's exhibition, Roman Klonek (ローマン クロネック) is now also exhibiting, Miho Nozaki (野崎 みほ), Florian Schommer (フロリアンショマー) and Jill Senft (ジル ゼンフト) - from Düsseldorf and Berlin, among other places - are also showing their work. Also represented from Japan are Shun Sasaki (佐々木 俊), Kakomaki (カコマキ), Toru Kase (加瀬 透) and Arata Kubota (窪田 新).

The initiators Lilly Friedeberg, Kiyo Matsumoto and Alexandros Michalakopoulos emphasize: "DEZAIN CRUSH is a must-visit for all design and art enthusiasts who value creativity, intercultural exchange and innovative design. The exhibition is not only aimed at anyone interested in the combination of Japanese and German aesthetics, but also at budding designers, artists and creative professionals from a wide range of fields.

Alongside the exhibition, the DEZAIN CRUSH team will be presenting a newly designed mobile store in collaboration with Düsseldorf design studio Studio Mudio. Not only will this year's new T-shirt, limited to 250 pieces, be launched there for the first time - other selected items relating to Japan, illustration and design are also waiting to be discovered.

OPENING TIMES
This year's exhibition starts on May 24, 2025 in the thematically appropriate setting of Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW 2025 at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf and will be open until June 10, 2025 on three weekends from 11 am - 6 pm: May 23 - 25, 2025 | May 30 - June 01, 2025 | June 07 - 10, 2025 (parallel to the opening of the HSD exhibition "New Design from Düsseldorf" on June 06, 25, 6 - 10 pm). The accompanying program of the exhibition will be published on the social media channels of DEZAIN CRUSH in the coming days.

ABOUT DECAIN CRUSH
The aim is to establish DEZAIN CRUSH as an annual design festival and meeting of Japanese and German designers in Düsseldorf and to combine exhibitions, network meetings and lectures in Japanese, German and English. The team specifically invites creative professionals from Germany and Japan to promote creative exchange between the countries and the design and illustration scenes.
