DFD NIO House Pop-Up: Cutoffs

Cutoffs was born out of a recycling idea. Cutoffs has set itself the task of producing high-quality individual pieces and limited small series from scrap wood strips and disused transport crates, individual products made from valuable old and waste material. The online store was launched in spring 2016.

Frank and Kina Terhardt's own wood manufactory in Düsseldorf-Heerdt provides enough usable waste material, as they have been making furniture here for over 30 years, but mainly picture frames. From the offcuts of the exquisite frames, which are handmade and predominantly from local woods such as oak, ash, walnut and maple, carpenter and qualified designer Kina Terhardt designs and manufactures high-quality new products.

With a great love of craftsmanship and materials, she creates items for everyday use. The range includes classically simple chopping boards, as well as special kitchen boards in different variations with wonderful surfaces, sophisticated coasters and trays with recognition value, candlesticks with a special charm, but also side tables, shelves with beautiful details and room dividers without a mass-produced character. Other materials such as brass, copper, colorful fabrics and ceramics are also used and complement the designs or set special accents.

Since September 2018, there has been a showroom in the courtyard of the old joinery - a converted shipping container - where you can view and buy the products (prior registration recommended).
