Energy is the lifeline of our society. That is why there is a lot of controversial discussion about a climate-neutral yet affordable supply of electricity, gas and heat. At the latest since people in Spain were left in the dark for several hours recently, the fundamental issue of grid stability and security of supply has also become even more of a focus.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research's Science Year 2025 is dedicated to the topic of "Future Energies". The question of where our energy will come from in the future, how we will store and transport it and how we will talk about it is of great importance to us all. This evening is intended to serve as a forum for dialog: Dr. Jasmin Pfeifer (Heinrich Heine University), Wibke Brems (Chairwoman of the Green Party in the NRW state parliament and former energy policy spokesperson for the parliamentary group), Christian Mildenberger (Managing Director of the state company NRW.Energy4Climate), Dr. Stefan Nykamp (Managing Director of Netzgesellschaft Düsseldorf) and Prof. Dr. Georg Pretzler (Professor of Physics at HHU and Director of the House of the University) will enter into an exchange about the future energy mix, challenges and solutions and discuss them with the audience.
