She is an icon of American showbiz. She has achieved what every singer dreams of no less than five times in her career: winning a Grammy. What's more, Dianne Reeves is the only one of the honorees to have won the award in three consecutive years. Reeves first became known to a wider audience in the mid-1970s when the Brazilian pianist Sergio Mendes took her on tour. The Detroit-born artist then experienced her final breakthrough a few years later thanks to Harry Belafonte, who hired her as a lead singer. What followed led to a unique global career spanning more than half a century, with no end in sight.
