The Alpine Christmas

"Die Alpenländische Weihnacht" has been delighting people all over the world for decades. The musical-literary program keeps a special cultural heritage alive and brings the Christmas spirit to life. It was premiered in 1995 in the world-famous basilica in Ottobeuren in front of around 4,000 enthusiastic listeners. It continues to fascinate to this day with its touching combination of music and narrative. Its uniqueness lies in the homogeneous fusion of words and music, which guarantees the audience a special kind of musical experience. The biblical story of the birth of Christ, from the Annunciation to the search for shelter and the shepherds at the manger, is ingeniously combined with the Alpine landscape and culture. On Pro Arte, you can experience this special Christmas with a top-class cast: actor Christian Wolff - known from the hit series "Forsthaus Falkenau" - uses his distinctive voice to narrate the Christmas stories by Silja Welte, Jörg Zink and Karl Heinrich Waggerl and gives a vivid and emotional account of his impressions of the Alpine Christmas. Wolff combines thoughtfulness with "mischievousness". Together with the world-famous boys' choir, the Regensburger Domspatzen, the brass sextet Ensemble Classique and Barbara Gasteiger as "master of the Tyrolean harp", they bring the Christmas story to the stage in an Alpine setting. The radiant, bell-bright boys' voices of the Regensburger Domspatzen in combination with the festive brass sounds proclaim the good news of the divine miracle. Harp interludes convey peace and unite music and narrated text. Look forward to a contemplative Christmas concert.
