Die Architekten (Spielfilm)

The young architect Daniel Brenner (Kurt Naumann) is given the opportunity to design a cultural center in the late GDR. Full of idealism, he gathers a team of like-minded people, but soon comes into conflict with the bureaucracy and political guidelines. His creative visions are thwarted and his hopes are dashed. While his project fails, his private life also crumbles as his wife and child leave for the West.
Filming began in September 1989 and reflects the events of the reunification period. The result is one of the first historical films about the end of the GDR - a story about dreams, adaptation and the unstoppable collapse of a system.
