A phone call from Max Gruber, alias Drangsal, was all it took to get Annette Benjamin back into the recording studio and on stage after 40 years. Born in 1960, the former front woman of the legendary punk band Hans-A-Plast was instrumental in the first punk wave at the end of the 70s and had a fan 33 years her junior in Max Gruber, who then put together an exceptional supergroup. This consisted of members of Die Nerven and Beatsteaks, art-pop musician Charlotte Brandi and Drangsal himself, who, together with Annette Benjamin and producer Max Rieger (Casper, Stella Sommer), recorded some of the most powerful songs in the NDW-infiltrated 80s post-punk style that can be heard in the current punk revival.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) explains this new relevance of punk with the current political situation: punk "is the kind of pop that can best cope with growing aggression". With its DIY ethos, punk is also as artistically open as possible - and interesting, as the support act Feige Flittchen proves. The art-punk trio around two sisters studying art (HfBK) and theater (Hildesheim) further develops punk for a queer young generation with the means of visual art and performance - and proves Annette Benjamin right, as she told the SZ in her old age: ,,The finest antennae for what it means to live in today's world are in the youth''.
One call from Max Gruber (aka Drangsal) brought Annette Benjamin back to the studio and stage after 40 years. Born in 1960, Benjamin fronted the legendary punk band Hans-A-Plast during Germany's first punk wave in the late '70s. Inspired by his musical idol, Gruber formed an exceptional supergroup around Annette Benjamin with members of Die Nerven, Beatsteaks, art-pop musician Charlotte Brandi, and himself. They recorded some of today's most vibrant songs-echoing the NDW-infused 1980s post-punk style, resonating strongly with the current punk revival.

Punk's renewed relevance, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung, stems from today's political climate: ''Punk is the type of pop that thrives on growing aggression.'' The supporting act Feige Flittchen, an art-punk trio of young artists and performers, pushes punk's DIY ethos forward - proving Annette Benjamin right: ''Youth have the finest antennas for living in today's world.''
