Her start in the profession went really well. Her first engagement took the young actress to a large state theater with great roles. But luck did not stay with her for long. The non-renewal of her contract was followed by short-term engagements at smaller theaters, waitressing jobs in between, and finally poorly paid appearances at lousy events. And always the hope of a call that might bring a new engagement. Now the actress has landed on the cruise ship "Donauprinzessin" together with a few musicians. The musicians are jazz professionals, they too have worked with the best, and now they are covering well-known songs. In the morning, she gives a reading or explains the history of passing monasteries and castles. In the afternoon she plays with the band for tea, in the evening for dinner and then for dancing. One night, an American sits down with her and the musicians, who thinks that this stimulating situation with music and conversation, as he is experiencing it, actually belongs on the stage. Georg Ringsgwandl's comic, clever monologue is the bittersweet life balance of a "misunderstood" actress: while she looks at her life in comparison with the stories of the "rich, beautiful and successful", she gives a deep insight into the social and emotional abysses of an artist's biography.
