They were the first to bring German-language hip-hop into the charts - with "Die da!?!", rappers Thomas D, Smudo and Michi Beck and beat-maker And.Ypsilon became pop stars overnight in 1992. Further hits such as "MfG", "Troy", "Einfach sein" and "Sie ist weg" followed. Millions of albums sold, countless awards and sold-out halls from Hamburg to Zurich speak for themselves: "Die Fantastischen Vier" are more than just musicians - they are a piece of pop culture and Germany's most successful hip-hop act. Their concert at the SHMF will be a memorable event: while the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025, "Fanta 4" can also look back on four decades of collaboration. "We are now the hip-hop dinosaurs. Firmly in the cultural memory," says Smudo. But nothing is rusty here: the four musicians from Stuttgart still rock the stage with maximum energy, nonchalance and passion. Their latest album, "Long Player", was released in 2024 and its stylistic versatility is like a journey through the stages of the band's history, hitting the bull's eye of the times with its easy-going, yet anything but insubstantial lyrics. At the SHMF, these new songs will sound just like the old hits and promise great emotions and real Fanta 4 fever on the Nordmarksportfeld in Kiel.
