An ambitious local politician is persuaded by an oligarch to help his city - and perhaps himself - achieve new greatness by building a spaceport. Gabriel von Eisenstein actually has other problems: He is due to start a prison sentence tomorrow for disorderly conduct. But why face reality? Eisenstein prefers to follow the advice of his friend Dr. Falke to have a good time before starting his prison sentence - and thus falls into the net of an intrigue in which many an honorable personality has to lose his good reputation.
