Die Geschichte vom kleinen Onkel

In the organizer's words:

A play for deaf and hearing people aged 5 and over in sign language and spoken language.

As part of "Together Unique - Who presents Whom", deaf5 presents the story of the little uncle:
The story is about being alone, about loneliness, about finding and making friends, about jealousy. And it shows us all that friendship - just like love - can become even greater through sharing.

The little uncle lives alone in a small house. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to be his friend. "Everyone is in a hurry. They're always looking at the clock. They're always buying something. They're always doing business. And they think I'm funny. That's not very nice." But one day, a dog comes along and changes the little uncle's life forever.

In the Cologne-based ensemble deaf5, deaf and hearing actors play together, amateurs and professionals. Since 2010, deaf5 has been staging plays for children in sign language and spoken language. Both languages are fully equal parts of the production process. The actors on stage sign and other actors speak the text in spoken language. There is no interpretation, but a live synchronization.

Based on the original by Elisabeth Vera Rothenböck and the classic children's book by Barbro Lindgren.
