The unsolved problem of Goldbach's conjecture becomes an insurmountable obstacle in the life of brilliant mathematics student Maguerite - even in everyday life, she repeatedly comes up against limits in her dealings with others. When she is confronted with a serious error in her work during a presentation to a research committee and loses her composure, her supervisor drops her and devotes himself entirely to the talented doctoral student Lucas. Deeply shaken and full of self-doubt, Marguerite throws everything away and looks for a temporary job. She soon realizes that life outside the university also holds surprising insights and that mathematics cannot simply be banished from her life. This sensitive film about the beauty of numbers and the many variables on the path to self-determination celebrated its world premiere as part of the Special Screenings at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
