The backyard purveyors hark back to a tradition at the turn of the century before last, when poor musicians tried to bring a little joy into the dreary world of the metropolitan backyards. Maids briefly interrupted their work to dance while their masters listened furtively from behind the curtains - only to throw a penny wrapped in newspaper into the courtyard as thanks.
With singing, violin, banjo and accordion, the Hinter-Hoflieferanten bring this milieu back to life:
History and stories from the period 1890 - 1930, wrapped up in eerily beautiful ballads of murder, love and the moon.
