A play by Marcel Cremer and Helga Kohnen for everyone aged six and over, which tells of war, loss, hunger and the beneficial effects of a good soup.
A nutritionist is tasked with making healthy food appealing to children. Her mission: good, tasty food for all children! While she cooks a colorful vegetable soup in a large pot, she explains why healthy nutrition is important for the entire body - from the little finger to the earlobe. She reveals the hidden powers of onions, potatoes and radishes. Almost incidentally, the cook recalls the story of her mother: Lene grew up in the country with her parents and grandmother. At the age of seven, she was given a little pig, which she named Frieda. The two become inseparable friends.
But the war comes ever closer and takes everything away from the people, even the availability of food can no longer be taken for granted, as Lene has to learn. But the soup is ready faster than the story is told.
The chef and the audience can discuss nutrition, hunger and the further course of Frieda's story over a shared bowl.
