based on the novels "Childhood" - "Youth" - "Dependence" by Tove Ditlevsen adapted for the stage by Tom Silkeberg

There is no room for the talent and dreams of the adolescent Tove in the Copenhagen working-class district of Vesterbro in the 1920s. At the age of fourteen she has to leave school and work against her will as a housemaid and later as an office assistant. Nevertheless, she refused to give in, initially publishing poems and stories and unwaveringly seeking her liberation in her own writing. In the "Copenhagen Trilogy", Tove Ditlevsen always uses her own biography to tell the story of her escape from a complicated everyday life into narration, cleverly interweaving reality and fiction. Her eponymous first-person narrator reports humorously and laconically on private matters that are nonetheless political.

The ruthlessness with which Ditlevsen writes about what it means to want more as a woman than society allows is in no way contradictory to her utopia of a successful life through art and literature. Ditlevsen's autofiction can be understood as a guide to self-empowerment and is a resistant female legacy of a great writer.

Already announced twice, the Residenztheater is now making a third attempt to realize this important project. It will be directed by Elsa-Sophie Jach, resident director at the Residenztheater, whose highly musical, playful productions are always original and original interpretations of texts.
