Die Nashörner

A perfectly normal day in a perfectly normal town - but suddenly a rhinoceros races through the streets. Can this really have happened, the inhabitants ask themselves. No one reacts, instead they speculate about where it came from and how many horns it has. A short time later, a second rhino storms past and shortly afterwards the disaster engulfs the whole town: the inhabitants don't feel well, their skin hardens into a shell, their voices become hoarse until they can only gasp. Veins swell, body temperature skyrockets and eventually they become rhinos themselves, breaking through walls, causing houses to shake and trampling everything. In the end, only one human remains.

"The Rhinos" by Eugène Ionesco tells of fascism and shows how it is gradually shaking society as a whole. Right-wing populist and far-right parties have been gaining strength across Europe for years. The pressure from the right is growing. Choreographer URSina Tossi transforms the modern classic into a dance piece with integrated artistic audio description for people with and without visual impairments.
