We invite people from Wiesbaden to take part in this staged version of Haydn's oratorio: on the one hand in cooperation with the Wiesbaden Bach Choir, with children and young people from the Wiesbaden Protestant Singakademie and with students from the Wiesbaden School of Drama, and on the other hand with Kompost. This is a lively community project that has been taking shape on Warmen Damm since March 2025. Here, Wiesbaden residents are regularly invited to bring their organic waste from the kitchen, garden and balcony to help an organic compost to grow. The 'real' compost outside becomes the link into the theater building, where the composting processes are artistically processed on stage.
Franziska Angerer's production of Haydn's oratorio looks at the biblical account of creation from a different angle: with a view to the smallest details. In the dissolution of the hierarchies of divine creation lies a potential that is familiar to many other creation myths in human history: Everything from humans to the tiniest microorganism becomes part of a cycle of becoming and passing away. After the performance in the Grosses Haus, Haydn's work itself will be inserted into this cycle at Kompost am Warmen Damm - with the new composition "for you are soil" by composer Arne Gieshoff.
Under the musical direction of General Music Director Leo McFall, the choirs are joined on stage by soloists from the opera ensemble and students from the Wiesbaden School of Drama.
