Dirk Darmstaedter live in der rosi

In the organizer's words:

Dirk Darmstaedter, singer of Jeremy Days, will play a solo concert at rosi in Gelsenkirchen on April 26, 2026. At the end of the 80s, Darmstaedter had the hugely successful hit Brand New Toy with Jeremy Days, which is still a must-have on any 80s sampler and can often be heard on the radio. The band broke up in 1996, but celebrated a surprising and much-acclaimed reunion in 2019. As a solo singer, Darmstaedter has been recording albums for over 20 years, touring regularly and writing pop songs that are reminiscent of Madness, Elvis Costello, Prefab Sprout and Lloyd Cole. This has made him a critics' favorite for years, whose enormous songwriting quality was even noted by the New York Times: "Darmstaedter is one of Germany's underground pop heroes." (New York Times, 03/2011). On April 26, he will also be returning to his roots a little, as his father's side of the family comes from Gelsenkirchen.
