WATCH THE TRAILER - Dirk Schäfer: Salto Cannibale

Dirk Schäfer's new production SALTO CANNIBALE stands on its own, but is also the last part of this musical-literary trilogy, which is also dedicated to a strongly repressed topic - colonialism - after the productions HINTER DEN WÖLFEN and DER TOD UND EIN MÄDCHEN, in which Schäfer deals with family and social processes and abysses reaching from the Nazi era to the present day - both productions were invited to the DUISBURGER AKZENTE festival in 2022. In a joint conception & direction with Ellen Dorn, interwoven with Ferdinand von Seebach's compositions & arrangements of jazz, blues, poetry and rap as well as encounters with Heinrich Heine, Queen and Schubert, for example, Schäfer's texts create the kaleidoscope of a search for traces in our colonial past and in our own family in order to explore the connection between personal and social processes and to reflect on historical events in their impact on today.
