Do you think the Wild West is history? Then let us take you on a journey to the Wild West of the 21st century. Dirk Schäfer's live reportage is dedicated to the legendary landscapes of the American Southwest and its inhabitants. The successful photographer and filmmaker roams famous national parks as well as the lonely desert regions between California and Colorado. Along the way, he meets people who, in their own way, are living the dream of a free life in an increasingly interconnected world.

From the fantastic Pacific coast between L.A. and San Francisco, Dirk Schäfer heads for remote regions. He spends days in the scorching hot Death Valley documenting the natural wonders of shifting rocks and bizarre erosion landscapes. At the Grand Canyon, he visits rarely visited places to gain new perspectives on one of the largest canyons on earth. He follows the Colorado on its spectacular route from the snow-covered peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the border with Mexico and experiences a wilderness that has become rare in its full beauty. The inhabitants of these regions give him an insight into the diversity of their lives: adventurous, melancholy, bizarre, sometimes unworldly and yet likeable.

As on all his travels, Dirk Schäfer travels by motorcycle. It takes him to places that are otherwise difficult to access. As a result, the renowned photographer manages to bring back impressive images and gripping videos that make the unfamiliar familiar but also show the supposedly familiar in a completely new light.
