Dirty Sound Magnet

Stavros Dzodzos, Marco Mottolini and Maxime Cosandey all come from the city of Fribourg in Switzerland. They met as teenagers in 2008 and shared a passion for the music of the psychedelic rock era of the 1960s and 1970s. As they began to record their music in earnest, Didier Coenegracht (vocals, keyboard) joined the band and they released two albums: What Lies Behind in 2012 and The Bloop in 2014. In 2015, Dirty Sound Magnet and Didier Coenegracht parted ways and the band began to evolve into its current form.

The band designed and built a recording studio in their rehearsal space, one of the many nuclear bunkers in Switzerland, and released the album Western Lies in 2017. The single Homo Economicus from the album won the M4Music Demotape Clinic Award for Best Rock Single and, along with other songs from the album, achieved airplay on many Swiss radio stations, including SRF3. The band also aroused the interest of the press in German and Swiss music magazines.

In November 2018, the single Social Media Boy was released, which was again well received in European rock magazines, including the Swiss magazine Artnoir and the Belgian magazine Frontview[8]. This was the prelude to the release of the album Transgenic in 2019. During the promotional tour for the album, the COVID-19 pandemic led to massive concert cancellations, so the band retreated to their rehearsal room and continued to play and record music. This situation gave rise to the album Live Alert. In an interview on the French-language Swiss television station RTS, Stavros explained how the entire album was recorded and filmed live. The recorded sessions were shown on the German-language Swiss channel SRF.

The Fribourg trio Dirty Sound Magnet "inspire with their live power on stages all over Europe". Building on the success of Live Alert, the new album DSM-III was recorded in the same way in 2022, with "driving music, riffs and fingerpicking techniques". The band further cemented their reputation for their live performances when they were awarded in the "Best Rock Act" category at the Swiss Live Talents in November 2022. In February 2023, Dirty Sound Magnet completed a highly acclaimed tour of Mexico.
