DISCUSSION BETWEEN THE LINES: DECOLONIAL THINKING IN THEATER TRANSLATION

Translating theater texts is a complex matter in itself. In a postcolonial context, it becomes a real challenge: how can questions of representation, tradition and power relations be dealt with?

How does one deal with the colonial traces in one's own language, and where does one locate a translation on the spectrum between 'assimilation' and 'exoticization'?
