Ditty aka Aditi "Ditty" Veena, born and raised in New Delhi, the musician and climate activist is explicitly dedicated to the inseparable connection between music and nature and writes, in her own words, "gentle, poetic protest songs that urge us to take better care of our planet - and ourselves." Ditty dresses her profound pieces in reduced, haunting arrangements full of intimacy. Her songs breathe pure liveliness, which includes the sounds of nature as well as delicate acoustic guitar and subtle keyboard sounds. Alongside drummer Andi Haberl (The Notwist) and Johannes Weber (Ilgen Nur, Jungstötter), most of the songs on her debut album KALI were written at various locations in her native India. KALI features songs in Hindi and English, but regardless of the language, Ditty's message remains the same: Make Forest Not War! It's about connection, mindfulness and emotion. Whether she is planting trees, campaigning for clean drinking water or using her songs to open up new perspectives on an India where an indie scene is only just coming to life, this young artist shows how music can actively contribute to change.
