Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands. Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

DJ Jumoke Adeyanju aka mokeyanju (Berlin)

Jumoke Adeyanju, also known as mokeyanju, is an interdisciplinary, multilingual writer, dancer, vinyl lover and budding sound artist. She is the founder of The Poetry Meets Series and hosts her own radio program Sauti ya àkókò on Refuge Worldwide. Her artistic output is heavily influenced by Detroit's hip-hop heritage as well as fújì, highlife, ndombolo, house and percussion-based music.

Her wide-ranging interest in East African and Caribbean culture has led her to collect records from Trinidad & Tobago, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo and other places - and she has discovered soundscapes of calypso, taarab, benga, soukous, rumba and contemporary electronic sounds. mokeyanju's musical palette knows no bounds: ranging from Japanese jazz to Somali disco, her unique sets leave audiences speechless.

A regular host of Refuge Worldwide's Breakfast Show, her eclectic musical tastes range from Dilla-inspired hip-hop beats to indigenous folk, alternative ambient soundscapes, jazz-infused afrobeat, soul and deep house. mokeyanju has played sets in Johannesburg, Lagos, Accra, Brooklyn/NY, Point Fortin (Trinidad), Mombasa, Nairobi as well as at DURCHLÜFTEN at Humboldt Forum, HÖR (Berlin), HKW (Berlin), LOCH (Wuppertal), Whitespace (Lagos), Odonien (Cologne), among others.
