What's next: "Make Germany Great Again"? This year, DOKVILLE, the annual industry get-together of the Haus des Dokumentarfilms, is focusing on the question of why our society seems to be so poorly equipped against the advance of anti-democratic ways of thinking and acting. Keynotes, panels and case studies are dedicated to the challenges we face as media professionals in the face of the ongoing shift to the right. How can critical journalism and documentary work support democratic discourse against the backdrop of increasing polarization and divisive tendencies?

Speakers include the frontman of the Toten Hosen band Campino, the journalist Prof. Dr. Michel Friedman, the Thuringian President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution Stephan Kramer, the Director General of SWR Prof. Dr. Kai Gniffke, the Deputy Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Thomas Strobl and Federal Minister Cem Özdemir.
