The band Lariza, consisting of singer Lena-Larissa Senge (German Jazz Award 2023 / Luah), saxophonist Lorenz Schönle, guitarist Raissa Mehner, bassist Duy Luong and drummer Lukas Schwegmann, creates an enchanted world of acoustic and electronic sounds.

The five musicians invite you on a sonic journey that is always about pouring the freedom of improvisation into unconventional songs and exploiting the wealth of sonic possibilities. Sensitivity, complexity and topicality are the focus of the joint creative process. Lariza form their own version of contemporary jazz from elements of jazz, pop, fusion and experimental music.

Lena-Larissa Senge founded the band in 2015 during her jazz vocal studies in Osnabrück, where she laid the foundations for the project together with Lukas Schwegmann and Lorenz Schönle. After her jazz studies, the band's focus shifted to Cologne. Since 2017 with guitarist Raissa Mehner and since 2021 with bassist Duy Luong, Lariza has increasingly devoted herself to interweaving acoustic and electronic sounds. Most of the songs are written by Senge, but Schwegmann and Mehner also contribute compositions to the band, which can be found on the current album "Luminance" (Unit Records, 2024).

In a continuous process, the five musicians explore sonic and rhythmic possibilities with openness and a love of experimentation, moving fluidly across genre boundaries. Electronic instruments such as synthesizers, electronic wind instruments, drum samples and numerous effect devices expand the acoustic instruments of voice, saxophone, flute, guitar, bass and drums.

In a joint dialog, Lariza create sophisticated songs that illuminate the world from the inside and outside in a way that is not always clearly interpretable. The music is not intended to dictate anything, but to leave room for the listener's imagination and encourage their own interpretations.

Lariza have reached their audience on numerous tours through Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic since 2015. In 2016, the band won the Study Up Jazz Award in Osnabrück. In 2020, they received the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation concert scholarship. The album "Weave" (Double Moon Records) was released in 2022 as part of Jazz thing's "Next Generation" series to promote young talent. In February 2024, the band recorded their new album "Luminance", which will be released on 01.11.2024 on the Swiss label Unit Records.

"From spark to fire" is the title given by Jazz thing to Lariza's music, which unerringly makes its way between experimental sounds, pop patterns and jazzy devotion and is waiting to be discovered by the audience.
